Love, Freedom and Love
All my life, I thought of love as some kind of voluntary enslavement. Well, that’s a lie: freedom only exists when love is present. The person who gives him or herself wholly, the person who feels freest, is the person who loves most wholeheartedly.
And the person who loves wholeheartedly feels free.
In love, no one harm anyone else; we are each of us responsible for our own feelings and can not blame someone else for what we feel.
It hurt when I lost each of the various men I fell in love with. Now, though, I am convinced that no one loses anyone, because no one owns anyone.
That is the true experience of freedom: having the most important thing in the world, without owning it.
From Maria’s Diary in Paulo Coelho’s novel "Eleven Minutes"

if someone says that he loves something more than himself then he must be lying. consciously or 'sub'consciously we all love ourselves first.
if love is about giving oneself wholly, then at one point you and the one you love becomes 'one' and to save yourself is to save your love, thus you become protective about your love,,and it eventually creates the ownership..and we get hurt when we or you or i make the mistake.
it'd be wonderful to see ppl around me experienceing freedom as it is cited here.
i've had/ i have still many things,,, a lot of things without owning them..
but it's always hard to let go..
i liked what u said.
but i have some reservation when u say, "to save yourself is to save your love, thus you become protective about your love" ...
i don't feel love doesn't need to be protected by our own will. It is something preserved in its own spirit.
That is the whole freedom what the post talks about.
thanks 'no_angel' for ur thoughts. i appreciate.
love is a built-in behavior like hunger, anger etc.
Love = Freedom
You know why? because when you find your soul free of hating people for no particular reason, you'll disvover that you are realy free!
