God is not a Christian

God is not a Christian.
understand this, atleast
for Christ's sake.

God is not a Jew.
all are His children,
not only a few.

God is not a Muslim.
just incase you're
boasting with your faith.

God is not a Hindu.
beyond the colored idols
transcend His attributes.

God never created a religion,
but the human race.

come! truth may
we all embrace.

Inspiration and Dedication: in an tv advert of Al Jazeera Tv channel, there is a clip of Archbishop Desmond Tutu (nobel peace prize winner 1984) where he said this line, 'God is not a Christian'. Being an Anglican Archbishop and uttering this beautiful saying 'God is not a Christian' inspired me, and hence this unworhty poem was born.

I dedicate this poem to Respected Desmond Mpilo Tutu; this beautiful South African visionary, activist who stood up against the unjust apartheid system, for the right of people and who can speak the truth from his own realization. His life and work are an inspiration of peace through Desmond Tutu Peace foundation.

Salaam Brother Sadiq

Wonderful poem , Masha'Allah and greeting to Archbishop Desmond Tutu.

----------
Wonder,
A garden among the flames!

My heart can take on any form:
A meadow for gazelles,
A cloister for monks,
For the idols, sacred ground,
Ka'ba for the circling pilgrim,
The tables of the Torah,
The scrolls of the Quran.

My creed is Love;
Wherever its caravan turns along the way,
That is my belief,
My faith.

(Ibn Arabi)

Wonderful, Sadiq. Thank you.

"What can I do, Muslims? I do not know myself.
I am no Christian, no Jew, no Magian, no Musulman.
Not of the East, not of the West. Not of the land, not of the sea.
Not of the Mine of Nature, not of the circling heavens,
Not of the earth, not of water, not of air, not of fire;
Not of the throne, not of the ground, of existence, of being;
Not of India, China, Bulgaria, Saqseen;
Not of the kingdom of the Iraqs, or of the Khorasan;
Not of this world or the next: of heaven or hell;
Not of Adam, Eve, the gardens of paradise or Eden;
My place placeless, my trace traceless.
Neither body nor soul: all is the life of my beloved . . ."

~ Jalaludin Rumi.

As far as I know, Desmond Tutu was a Zionist like Dr King. Has he ever denounced Apartheid Israel as well? Has he ever denounced the Jews and Zionists who ruled over Apartheid South Africa?

What the fuss about the Zionist Nobel Prize? Terrorist Menahem Begin won the Zionist Nobel Prize!!!!!!!

Thank you for putting my thoughts into such beautiful verse. This is the way I have always believed, just didn't quite know how to express it. It's perfect.

A beautiful poem and a great dedication. :-)

The things I have always loved the most about Desmond Tutu are his understanding of his own frail humanity.. and his compassionate humour.

Well, I agree that God is not bound to any religion Or any rules .... BUT one thing that's not correct is that there are two kind of religions .... One are Human made ..... which never existed for long ....... the other type are those which are IMPLEMENTED by humans BUT are revealed by GOD .... Chosen people (Prophets) are the ones who practiced and preached those religions to human beings ......

so its not true that ALL religions are human made .... Christianity, Jewism, Islam .... three distinct examples ..... Original teachings in Original text were the religions revealed ... ONLY Islam has the original teachings left in the shape of Quran .... Bible and Tora are changed by their own followers ..... for their own satisfactions ....

Beautiful. My wife and I were just discussing this point before we got out of bed. You have said it so eloquently. NO such thing as a coincidence!

What a good blog. As a Christian Universalist, I know that God loves all and saves all his creation. God is love and that's the foremost truth. Anything except love is supplemental.
